Marggie Peters Muhika

Marggie Peters Muhika is a leading voice in international development, recognized for her strategic leadership in advancing labor rights, democratic governance, and equitable economic policy across Africa. Her career spans some of the continent’s most complex political landscapes, where she has built high‑impact partnerships, shaped policy agendas, and strengthened institutions that support worker rights and democratic resilience.

As the Deputy Director for Africa at the American Center for International Labor Solidarity (Solidarity Center), Marggie drives the organization’s regional vision leading strategy, policy and legislative engagement, diplomatic outreach, and multi‑country program oversight. Her work brings together labor movements, governments, and global partners to address systemic challenges and expand protections for workers across the continent.

Previously, she served as Country Director for East and Horn of Africa, where she led work in Ethiopia, Somalia, and Kenya, advancing labor rights advocacy and governance reforms in fragile and rapidly evolving environments.

Marggie’s earlier roles with the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) in Kenya and the FES Trade Union Competence Center in South Africa further established her as a regional authority on labor policy and institutional development.

Marggie holds a Master’s degree in Management of Development from the ITCILO and is currently completing an M.Sc. in Global Public Policy at SOAS, University of London.
