Our interactive, entertaining courses are designed so as to enable thousands of participants from around the globe to learn with and from each other. Massive Open Online CoursesFounded in 2011 by Jonas Liepmann and Hannes Klöpper iversity originally sought to improve blended learning at institutions of higher education. With the emergence of Massive Open Online Courses in 2012 iversity became the first European platform for such MOOCs. Today iversity has over 750,000 registered users and over 1 million course enrolments. iversity is one of only a few platforms globally offering online courses that award ECTS-credit points.
Digital Professional DevelopmentSince 2015 iversity offers professional development courses to individuals as well as corporate clients. An interdisciplinary team of learning experience designers and media production specialists translates content into an interactive course experience that has little in common with traditional elearning. Today we have many brand name customers with whom we work on making corporate digital learning an experience that is both: fun as well as effective.
Hannes Klöpper, CEO
Hannes is the founder and CEO of iversity. He represents iversity to the public and is an expert on the digitalisation of education. He co-authored a book on the university in the 21st century in collaboration with the distinguished philosopher Yehuda Elkana. Hannes holds a Dual-Masters in Public Administration from Columbia University and the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin and a B.A. in International Relations from the Technische Universität Dresden. Moreover, he spent a semester at Sciences Po Strasbourg and completed the Academy Year programme at the European College of Liberal Arts in Berlin. From 2010-2011, Hannes Klöpper worked as an associate on a project that explored the impact of digitalisation on education for the Stiftung Neue Verantwortung. He has been invited to speak on the future of education at numerous conferences including the World Economic Forum in Davos, The Economist Higher Education Forum, the EAIE Annual Conference, the British Council Going Global, Edcrunch Moscow, European Forum Alpbach, Online Educa and Websummit.
Christina Pautsch, Managing Director
Since 2015, Christina has been in charge of the conceptional and strategic development of the iversity platform. She translates the company’s strive for didactical excellence into learning experiences that inform, involve and inspire users. Christina studied cultural and media sciences at the Europa-Universität Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) and Filmhochschule Potsdam. She worked as a freelance user experience designer for several years. Subsequently, she worked for different consultancy firms, establishing new digital business areas for companies like Volkswagen and Deutsche Telekom, including various educational projects. She participated in several publications related to social media management at the Institute for Social Media Communication (Ikosom).
Dr. Florian Nickels-Teske,

Florian is iversity’s Director of Business Development, building and maintaining relationships with our academic and professional clients and aiding them in developing effective online learning products. Before joining iversity, Florian worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Co. in London, U.K. He then took the role of strategy manager at The Open University in Milton Keynes, U.K., where he developed an abiding interest in online education and the opportunities it opens up for learners and instructors alike. Florian holds a DPhil in Political Economy and a MPhil in European Politics and Society, both from the University of Oxford, as well as a BA in International Affairs from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Gordon Friebe, CTO
As Chief Technology Officer, Gordon leads the Development Team, taking care of the technological execution of the platform. Gordon has worked in the web technology based startup scene for more than ten years holding positions from freelancer to CEO and has had the opportunity to gather experience from a variety of successful companies. Starting out with a computer science degree, his focus has always been on the technical side of the business. While having looked into all technical aspects from server operations to frontend development he is now focused on developing the application backend.
